Joseph La Piana Frequency

Collateral project

The historic Orto Botanico Corsini and Forte Stella in Porto Ercole (Monte Argentario) are hosting the site-specific solo exhibition “Frequency” by New York artist Joseph La Piana from June 8th to August 8th. The exhibition is curated by Sebastian Sarmiento and Georgina Pounds.

La Piana’s new in-situ works engage in a dialogue with the historic botanical collection of the Corsini Garden and the 16th-century architecture of Forte Stella. The exhibition takes its name, “Frequency,” from Forte Stella’s historical role as a communication and surveillance fortification over the centuries. La Piana uses passive materials to activate the environment. His characteristic bright yellow contrasts sharply with the green vegetation and the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
